Many leaders in EMS administrations worldwide started off as green EMT’s, and if you asked their supervisors early on in their careers I bet most would have said they are not going to make it a year before they have been chewed up and spit out. Even as a basic emergency medical technicians certain characteristics of a leader began to slowly show through and were developed by an attentive supervisor of their service. Through many trials and tribulations these individuals slowly began to rise above the average ranks. It was at this point in their careers that many future leaders learned the ends and outs of dealing with people in everyday life in a professional and nonprofessional setting. Many lifelong lessons were learned as they dealt with difficult patients or family members and assisting other members in administration in dealing with difficult employees, by simply listening and being empathic to their situation, but only after many mistakes were made along the way. Displaying a positive attitude when times are rough, lead by setting a good example of treating every patient in a ethical manner, regardless of their social status and acting morally while on and off the clock influences all employees regardless of their position within the company. Sometimes it might not feel so good but a good leader puts the needs of their staff above those of their,which is not always appreciated by some staff members.
Leadership can be practiced in good and bads ways by any organization's leadership team. However, the most successful organizations are overflowing with many of the characteristics and traits were discovered above. When a leader of any organization leads by example their actions have a tendency to become addictive
