Government surveillance has been an issue for quite sometime. Many oppose being watched by the “big man” to enjoy their privacy, but at what cost? Some would say at the expense of their safety. Unlawful acts shouldn’t be committed but still, they are. Now, would you rather have an eye-witness account of what has happened, which is often unreliable, or would you rather have the camera’s footage? In a world where freedom is a basic right, there is often conflict between our privacy and our safety. What is certainly true is that the government's surveillance is necessary in order for our children to walk the streets safe or even surf the web protected.
There are courts of law all over the U.S which incriminate and ruin the lives of innocent citizens. There is a crucial factor to the choices of these courts which could change the minds of many. Bring about some evidence and see what happens. There is certain things as physical evidence but imagine how much more powerful visual evidence is. The reason behind surveillance began with stopping organized crime. Criminal organizations began using phones to conduct their business. This cost us a bit of our privacy. Had it not been because of this, we could of lost the war on organized crime long ago. The same goes today as we are hit with various acts of terrorism to our country. We could keep our privacy, but at what cost? Our ultimate safety relies on the government being able to watch us. A certain people cannot be excluded from such policies if it means that our lives are at stake. People have to wake up and realize that we are watched because we need to be watched. That is not to say that we are all being watched at this moment, but certain situations attract certain actions and measures which need to be followed to the letter. This ensures that we live in the peace that we so desperately
