The International Student Assessment (PISA), is an international assessment that tests 15 year-old students around the world. Students are tested every three years. There are four different subjects in which students are tested in: reading, mathematics, science and literacy. The test results were influential for the schools, it caused countries to become more competitive. Each school then started to work harder at improving test scores. The United States 15 year-old students scored 498 points out of 1000. That is low enough for the U.S. to be ranked at a staggering 24th place. There are a lot of factors that can play into why the United States in general has bad education, or why a certain school is badly ranked. These factors can be anything from budget cuts to classroom size. Budget cuts play a major role in a student's education because the budget of a school is used for supplies and teachers that are fit for the job. Classroom size can also be a deficit in education for children. With more schools being closed, children are being forced to charter from one school to another.
