School shouldn't start so early because it is bad for both the students and the school. School these days are not places we are particularly fond to go to, especially when we aren't able to get enough sleep and are cranky. Did you know that most kids don’t get enough sleep as they should because schools early start times such as 7:30? It’s true. Schools these days are getting outrageous with their start times, poor food during lunch, poor standardized test scores, and new dress codes. Seriously, we should get more privileges around here. Research shows that having a later start time would also help improve our health. Research shows that students who get even one more hour of sleep would help prevent them from having sleep deprivation. Students would also have a less likely chance of being overweight, depressed, even in a car accident. According to the national sleep foundation, students between 15 and 17 are recommended to have nine hours of sleep, although 80% get less than seven. With a later school starting time students would be able to get the sleep they deserve. With a start time of even 8:30 am students then wouldn't have to get up at 5:00 am to get their chores done, have time to get ready for school, have breakfast, and get on the bus. The parents work schedules might not work with the new starting time and some of the younger and smaller students wouldn’t have anyone to drive them to school or help them get dressed and such in the morning. Not only that but this new time could also mess with the Bus schedules, making them more complex and having a bigger area to go through. If the new starting time was starting later, than the ending/ let out time would also have to be later. This means that most of the after school activities such as clubs and sports would have to end at a later
