Welfare Recipients should be required to random drug screenings.

Many citizen question where there U.S tax money is going, unfortunately not many know. There's been an ongoing debate on whether welfare recipients should be drug tested. The issue has been brought up time and time again. The main topic of tax money is the use of assistance money and are the recipients using them for the right reasons? The solution to knowing if the assistance money is being used correctly is drug testing the recipients. Testing the recipients will eliminate drug users using the assistance program. Not only will it cut down the amount of drug users, it will cut down the cost of the assistance which is very expensive as a whole. People in these programs are getting our tax dollars; therefore if you are receiving help, you shouldn't be involved in criminal actions.

The following states are: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. “If a welfare recipient had tested positive to cannabis, ice, ecstasy or certain opiates, a large portion of their welfare payment. A second positive test would have seen the welfare recipient charged for the cost of the test and referred for treatment” (Webster). The rules are not all the same in the states, another rule is “The bill calls for the testing of 20 percent of the nearly 4,000 adults enrolled in Louisiana’s Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program. If recipients fail the test, they have 90 days to enter and complete a drug rehabilitation treatment program. During those 90 days, they continue to receive cash assistance from the state”
