Yes, I believe the term "passive resistance" does accurately describe the campaign of nonviolent mass action. The word "passive" means someone who accepts what other people do or decide without trying to change anything, but the word “resistance” means effort made to stop or to fight against someone or something. That's what Gandhi believed in the beginning of the campaign. A campaign that goes against the government without using violence or obeying the laws. An example would be the march to the sea. Nonviolent mass action is very active. However, it is not violent and that is how the term "passive resistance" came into use. Passive resistance has its most poignant and impressive example when nonviolent activists do not fight back when assaulted
