After further investigation the African-Caribbean popluation were actually suffering from brief reactive psychoses developed largely by socio economic factors. Similar effects are evident by the high rates of schizophrenia in hospital based samples of African Americans in the 1980’s. Many of clinician bias or stereotypes lead them to make the wrong diagnosis.
