Many things such as drugs, sexual interactions before marriage, and cursing have slowly started becoming a norm. The standard level of music has dropped immensely to suit the standards of the world. Some music now is just noise with a melody line. Most lyrical references were associated with partying, getting wasted, violence, and crude humor. Songs like “Turn down for what” by: Dj Snake ft. Lil’ Jon, and “Blame it” by: Jamie Foxx and T-Pain consign poor decisions to alcohol, completely abandoning personal responsibility. They promote the motto, YOLO, by getting wasted and thinking they’re living life to the fullest, yet the joke is on them because that’s one less night they’ll remember. This was the golden age of rock and roll, and the closely related African American genre of rhythm and blues. Rock was widely characterized as morally degrading, and obscene. It sometimes became too out of hand that police confiscated jukeboxes in some southern cities, promoted by local White Civil Councils. In Houston and other cities, they banned songs from playing on the radio because of the suggestive lyrics. During one of his performances on Ed Sullivan’s programs, rock idol Elvis Presley, had to be photographed only from the waist up because his moves were too hot for national television. People have said that since he wouldn’t keep still he would often be threatened by police for obscenity charges. What we see can affect us for life, it could mess up in the long run. Just say no.
