If you were to tell me even two years ago that I would be applying for a graduate program, I would have laughed before walking away. My husband and I were still planning and growing our family. Both Registered Nurses, we had our heads down. We worried only for the day with no thought for any lifelong career goals. A good friend finally convinced me begin working toward my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Throughout the program, my husband and I started imagining what it would be like if I continued my education. Hypothetical scenarios somehow became realities as time when on. I cannot imagine staying at my current education level any longer. While just a short time ago, my career path was unclear, it is now brightly lit with motivation and readiness.
Obtaining a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Texas A&M Corpus Christi is my next education goal. I want this degree and educational experience so that I am better prepared to give my patients the most complete care possible. I believe educating our patients is the best way we can enable them to take ownership in their health. With the broad knowledge-base and experience that the MSN affords, I will be able to offer a more complete evaluation and recommendation for every patient. I positioned myself here so that I could create the best foundation for my future as a Family Nurse Practitioner. We see a number of patients that use the department for their primary care.
