The fashion world entered the 1950s with the remnants of what was left after the war efforts and it took hard work for the designers of Paris to return to their businesses and to bring stability back into the fashion industry. Despite not seeing the end of rationing until as late as 1958, the Ally countries were still in a state of euphoria from winning the war, and despite the destruction WW2 had brought into their lives, there was a high morale form the public as people worked hard to bring their countries back to the state it had been before the war, and better. Hollywood had paused during the war, but out of t emerged a burst of glamour and a booming film industry. By the end of the decade, the television was a staple household item, and so a wider public was able to witness the changing fashion propagated by the Golden Age of Hollywood, and the classic actresses at the time such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Lucille Ball held an enormous influence over what designers created for their consumers. …show more content…

The invention of the bullet bra and the growing popularity of the hourglass figure enabled designers such as Christian Dior to take the place of most influential designers from Schiaparelli and Chanel, who had previously made the slim boyish figure
