This issue is important because as a result of the current influx of unjust violence, practicing solidarity across the spectrum of communities is crucial to work towards building long-term positive changes to a system constantly in threat. As a result of the myriad forms of conservatism, neo-fascism, and militarism affect communities of color in the world, it is important for all of us to reflect and educate ourselves on alternative epistemologies that constantly endure these struggles as a way of coming up with solutions in how to advance the way we organize. This type of work alongside decolonization movements go beyond the institutional and individual delineations of labor and instead is a lived practice. Being able to promote the stories of women of color into more academic literature will allow individuals to understand that these experiences have a crucial role in social change. Instead of following with the academic , conventional “wisdoms” produced by oppressors and internalizing them, women of color in Chicago are beginning to see themselves as inherently capable of producing and intellectualizing theories and wisdom.
