I have come from a world of sacrifice and tough love. Being the daughter of first-time immigrant parents, it's a feeling that is commonly shared with others, but unique in its own way. Growing up in Australia, I have always lived in a predominantly white suburban neighborhood. Obviously as a kid, you learn, interact, and understand each other, but one idea I didn't grasp was, why was I the abnormal kid? I could never go to sleepovers. Why didn't I have the same family bond? Why did I have to sit at the corner table of our family restaurant into the late night at the age of 7?
