Ever since I was a little girl, I have hated the Fourth of July. I did not hate the Fourth of July because of the awkward family gatherings, wearing the colors of the American flag, or the history behind the holiday. Actually, I love seeing my family wearing red, white, and blue; and most importantly, I feel a deep appreciation for both my country and the rich history of how it came to be as it is today. So why would a young girl who seems to enjoy the primary aspects of the holiday dislike the Fourth of July so much? The truth is, I am terrified of fireworks.
