Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is a problem solving process that works to address students with behavioral issues. Functional Behavior Assessments are used in RTI to develop effective and efficient behavioral interventions. School teams work together to identify significant social, cognitive, or environmental factors in order to understand why a student is exhibiting certain behaviors. In order to maintain a high quality of classroom instruction, whole group intervention is used at tier one. The data that is collected in FBAs at tier one is used to help identify and improve behavioral problems school-wide.
Instead of focusing on individual student data, the data that is collected focuses on discipline referrals. At tier one RTI teams
