Here are some typical stereotypes of the images for gay men and lesbian women: people often think that men who act like women, talk with a lisp or in a high pitched voice, have rich gesticulations, and are hypersexual or have chaotic sexual relationships are gays; and they also believe that women who have cats, try to persuade others to be lesbians, want to look like or act like men, and hate men are lesbians (Herek, 2002; LaMar & Kite, 1998). Actually, these stereotypes of gay men and lesbian women are inaccurate. These may bring bias to homosexual people and hurt their feelings. Thus, people should avoid using these stereotypes to guess or judge whether a person is a gay man or lesbian woman.
