The Constitutional Convention took place on 1778, May 25, in Independence Hall Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Fifty-five delegates attended. These were educated men and war veterans. These were the men who contributed to the government today, and provided the framework of modern America. George Washington was a rich man who was highly respected, and did not want to attend the Constitutional Convention, but did. In doing so, he shaped how the American people view duty to their country today. In a letter to Henry Knox, he said that someone had put his name in for the delegation, and that he wished that they would not make him go to the convention. He had already served as general in the Revolutionary war, and had served the American people.
