Washington was born here in Virginia, specifically in Bridges Creek. He made Mount Vernon his home and a family base where he would love to return to. He got his education from the College of William and Mary after which he worked as a surveyor.
He started his military career in 1752 in the Virginia army. He was made a colonel during the French and Indian War and was eventually put in charge of all of Virginia’s military forces.. By 1759, Washington had ended his time with the Virginia army and went back to his home in Mount Vernon. He then was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses, where he held his position until 1774. During the next several years after 1759, Washington spent many years growing his Mount Vernon property four times its original size. He was interested in farming and grew various crops, including wheat and corn, bred horses and maintained fruit orchards and a fish farms.

After the end of the war, the peace agreement was negotiated, and they signed the Treaty of Paris in 1783. This treaty recognized America as a nation that is free and independent. Mr. Washington, believing he had done his duty, gave up his command of the army and returned to Mount Vernon, wanting to continue his life as a gentleman farmer and family man. However, a hero who is well-known for his courage and sense of duty to his country. We highly respect Commander Washington for his boldness and bravery in combat and for his loyalty to his soldiers during the very tough times of the war. We hope as our future as a new country is getting formed, we shall be lucky to count on the leadership of this brave man
