The Civil War had just began months before Nazi Germany’s job of Greece ended in October of 1944. The war was held in Greece after Greece was left powerless. The Greek Civil War had began 1946 and ended in 1949. It was known as the “Cold War” and they had disagreements involving politics in a foreign country. Civil War and the Greek Civil War had two opposing sides and were trying to defeat each other for power or freedom with other countries and places. Both wars were fighting for different reasons and they both wanted to have different outcomes out of what they were fighting for, but they were both fighting for something. The U.S. Civil War and the Greek Civil War both had leaders that led the armies to either victory or to failure. The wars both had a winning army and a losing army, even though the winning army lost many people on the journey just like the losing army did to. The wars had two different things with what they were fighting for. The Greek Civil War was fighting for political differences and became a big issue between the communists and the government. The U.S. Civil War was fighting for slavery and which states should be slave states or free states. Also in the Greek Civil War the two sides fighting was the Greek Government Army and the Greek Communist Party. In the U.S. Civil War it was against the Union and the Confederacy. Civil conflicts are important to learn about because it is teaching us about all of our history’s past and how extreme it would get to fight for what your home needs; even when that means sacrificing your life.
