Gun Control Editorial In America there are about 270 million firearms that are owned by civilians, and only 897,000 are carried by police. Wall Street Journal found that 20% of people that own firearms own 65% of the guns. In a recent debate Hillary Clinton was asked about gun control, and the laws we have. She said the access we have to guns now are “way out of balance”. This is what she had to say about gun control, "We've got to rein in what has become an almost article of faith that anybody can have a gun anywhere, anytime," she said. I do find it ridiculous that people can go into a store and buy any gun they want. I think people need guns for self defense. What if someone came into your house and started stealing everything? Wouldn’t you want to know that you’re safe if you have a gun in the house? On November 3, 2015 in Chicago Illinois a person went into a store and pointed a gun at the employee. He made her go to the back of the store which means it was a currency exchange. There was another customer in the store at the time of the robbery and he was armed and when he saw all this happen drew his firearm and shot the robber. The customer that shot the robber had a concealed weapon license so it wasn’t illegal. The robber died from being shot from the customer. I think we need more people that have concealed weapons because of incidents like this one. If I was that employee I would be so thankful for that customer that had that concealed weapon because I could’ve been dead. That employee is very lucky that customer was in the right place at the right time. The second amendment is the right to bear arms. As Americans we should be able to have firearms and guns to protect ourselves. I think the main reason we need to have guns is self defense and people like to go hunting for food. Hunting is a hobby.
