American history has been characterized by a pervasive problem with hate speech which has affected various ethnic, religious, gender and social groups. Today, despite significant efforts to quell this type of speech and create an inclusive environment, hate speech appears to be on the rise as stories of discrimination, violence and public ridicule overtake our news sources. In light of these recent events, it is the responsibility of today’s youth to find a solution to this predicament that affects lasting change.
