Health promotion plays an essential part of our overall health and lifestyle. Although many health promotion behaviors are similar, they can differ depending on what age group is being focused on (Golinowska, et al, 2016). For older adults, health promotion behaviors tend to surround the individual’s functional capacity, their social network and improving their self care routine (Golinowska, et al, 2016). In addition to focusing on these behaviors, it is also important to focus on the health history of the patient to gain a better insight on the individual’s overall health status. He connects with his wife daily by making time to do things with each other such as frequent date nights and traveling together. His relationship with his wife influences his day to day feelings of well being because his wife encourages him to have a positive outlook on life. He described how making an effort to stay active and to not sit around all day allows him to remain positive in life. His daily activities include exercising and participating in many hobbies. His exercising includes going on a walk or walking on the treadmill and his hobbies include going to car shows and enjoys remodeling houses. He believes that his finances influence his overall health and well being by allowing him to get the proper health care services he needs. He suffered from chicken pox when he was younger, is currently up to date on all of his immunizations, has no allergies and receives a yearly flu shot. He attributes his health care practices to being married to a nurse for over 50 years. Two current medical issues that GS suffers from is high cholesterol and hearing loss. He was hospitalized 3 years ago when he un-expectantly fainted when his blood pressure dropped too low. GS has not experienced any injuries but has frequent pain in his knees. We discussed how when he visits his primary care provider that his vitals are typically within normal range but lab tests always come back with his cholesterol being higher. His daily medications include his high cholesterol medication, Simvastatin, which is not on the BEERS list, and a daily multivitamin and GS stated that he never forgets to take his
