Nursing Roles and Responsibilities in Health Promotion Health promotion has become priority issues and future directions for health professions from a world perspective. By focusing on individuals, families, communities, and the environments in which people live, work, and play the health care professionals today are vital links for promoting national and international health. Nurses today are required to have sufficient vision and expertise to provide the health of their clients. This article is mainly based on a task developed by The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Section on Pediatrics which summarizes evidence-based activity recommendations for youth.APTA physical fitness for children and adolescents focus on applying research, establishing community-based fitness program, and designing treatment programs. Each component of the fitness such as body composition, flexibility, and strength are reviewed and posted for recommendations for a healthy level of fitness. The conclusion of this article states that children and adolescents should participate in health related fitness at least an hour a day to promote overall wellness and prevent any illness. The entire focus of this article is the primary health promotion by promoting activity, fitness, health and wellness. The next level of health promotion that refers to secondary health promotion is intended to identify the risk factors and treat if necessary before any symptom arises. Different screening test and wellness programs are excellent examples of secondary approach of health promotion.
