Healthy eating is very important for the human body. Therefore, a few nutrients is need to achieve healthy eating. They are carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals.
*Carbohydrates- Carbohydrates are the main source of energy of the human body, they provide the ideal fuel which is glucose(sugar). It helps the human body to function properly. Without carbohydrates, it might causes nausea, mood swings, weight loss, weakness, dizziness, bad breath and depression may also occur. Carbohydrates are in a lot of food, for example, orange juice, chocolate power bars and Banana. It gives you energy in your everyday life.
*Fats- Fats are an essentially reserves of energy. It forms a layer between your skin and muscle and this acts as a water proof layer below your skin to helps regulate your body temperature and protect you from excess cold/heat. When you are starving or in a situation where you are needed for food, fats will be transformed to energy for the body to use. Fats are in most of the food we eat but in fruits, there are barely any fats. For example, nuts, butter and beef.
*Proteins- Protein builds up, maintains, and replaces the tissues in your body. Protein is very useful to the human body. The human body uses it to make hemoglobin which is the part of the red blood cells. The red blood cells carries oxygen to every part of your body. Also proteins are used to build cardiac muscles. When you’re moving your legs, moving your lungs, you also needs proteins to do that. Most importantly it protects you from disease. Foods that contains proteins are beef, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products, nuts and seeds.
*Vitamins and minerals- They are substances that can be found in the foods we eat. The human body needs them to work properly, to grow and to improve. Vitamin D in milk helps your bones, vitamin A in carrots helps you see at night, vitamin C in oranges helps your body heal if you get a cut and at last vitamin B in leafy green vegetables help your body make protein and energy.
*Why we need to balance the energy we take in against the energy we use? What happens if these 2 values are not balanced? We need to balance the energy we take in against the energy we use because if we over take in energies and didn’t use up the energies properly then fats and other nutrients will be stored in our body and won’t be used up until we really do exercises. In the other hand, if we over uses energy and didn’t take in as much energies as we needed then there will be an energy shortage and it will mess up how your body function properly. So it is very important to balance both of it to keep us healthy.
