Heroic Acts In The Odyssey

A heroic act often involves bravery, self-sacrifice, and standing up for others no matter what, even in the face of danger. Others often admire heroic people because of how they are and how they show extreme bravery in who they are. As for Odysseus, he's a mix. He is clever like the Trojan Horse, and endorses a lot to return home to Ithica. He's also flawed and gets over his head at times. He lets his pride and anger get the best of him throughout his journey home. There are a few stories to which you can compare Odysseus, one being “The Most Dangerous Game.” In that story, there is a character named Rainsford. He and Odessyus share a few things in common throughout their journeys. How you act can define you and who you are as a person. A hero in other words is “A mythological or legendary figure often defined as a descent endowed with great strength or ability.” Odysseus has those characteristics and shows them throughout the book. For example, he used his cleverness to tell the Cyclopes in book 9 that his name is “Nobody” so when the Cyclopes yelled for help he said, “Nobodys killing me now my fraud, and not by force!” This then helped Odysseus and his men escape the Cyclopes. This is a great example of how Odysseus is when it comes to saving his men and doing that heroically. On the other hand, he can also be very flawed about what he can do. He often lets go of what he does and his anger gets the best of him and he doesn't make smart choices. For example, in book 9 sailing back out in the ocean after he escaped the cyclopes, he let his pride take over and get the best of
