Everyone could feel the tension as we were pulling up to their baseball field. We got out of our team bus and strolled straight into the visitors dugout. As our metal cleats scraped against the concrete, the other team knew we had arrived. I remember looking over at their team and thinking “How have we lost to these guys three times in a row?”

In the bottom of the third inning, they started to hit the ball really well. They had one out with the bases loaded and were about to score. Our head coach, Coach Paul, called time and called the infield to the pitcher’s mound. He told us to stay calm and make the great double play he knows we can make. The next batter stepped to the plate. He hit it straight to our third baseman, who fielded the ground ball perfectly, quickly touching third base, and then launched the ball towards home. Seth, the catcher, caught the ball and as quickly as he could reached down to tag the runner sliding into home. The umpire signalled the runner was out and we all ran towards the dugout cheering with excitement.
In the top of the fourth inning, we started to gain momentum and were able to get people on base. During this inning, we scored three more runs resulting in a score of 4-1. As we were taking the field, lightning came crackling across the sky. The umpires instantly told us to go back to our dugout. The Ascension Catholic team then brought out a tarp to cover the whole infield. After 40 minutes of the rain pouring down, the umpires announced the game would be rained out and we would win! All of our fans screamed with excitement and our team started to celebrate. The game gave us confidence for the rest of the season and put Ascension Christian back in control of the Battle for AC rivalry. The game taught
