There is a level of motivation and inspiration such as giving back to the community and morality of respect for all people. One suggestion that I have is that this statement is lengthy and can be shorten just a bit. Take the “creating shareholder value” and “Entrepreneurial spirit” out because it is not one of the key focuses. “Our mission is to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world.” According to the Nike’s website there is an addition to the given statement “If you have a body, you are an athlete”. This mission statement is focused on satisfying customers’ needs who are athletic, want to be athletic, or just dress comfortable in style by providing top of the line products. Nike clearly identifies the customers as athletes but goes a little farther by identifying everybody as an athlete. This is a great strategy because it motivates the consumer to want to wear a famous athlete brand that they may be inspired by or just love their style. The downfall of this mission statement is that it doesn’t provide clarity of the customer’s need and how they will serve them. Even though they are a well known brand, it still need to bring awareness on what sets them apart from any other sporting good merchandise and improve the market. Nike has always been about athletic clothing and motivating consumers to play sports. Nike’s mission statement is short, direct, and clearly understood. Nike stands for being one of the top athletic clothing companies who motivate athletes worldwide to take their sporting gear to the next level.
