At war, all veterans suffer through life-changing and traumatic experiences that will leave them scarred for the rest of their lives. Veterans deal with recurring memories and traumas, just playing in their heads. For some veterans, certain sounds, words, or objects trigger traumatic memories from war, which can lead to loss of self-control, along with possible injury to themselves. Veterans from all around the world have an increased risk of developing the following mental disorders: “Bipolar disorder, personality disorder, substance use disorder, schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety disorders” - (2020 National Veteran Report). Along with all of these, various mental disorders can often be the result of an even bigger problem, suicide. As the years go on, there have been alarmingly increasing rates of suicide among veterans.
