The American Legion has recognized that homeless veterans need help. First off, the American Legion is an organization that consists of veterans. It was established in 1919 by World War 1 veterans. They’ve noticed that they should provide those homeless with housing, meals, etc. Every American Legion has a department called the “Homeless Veterans Task Force” to help them. Our nation is made up of 11% of homeless veterans. Each department has a chairperson who can be contacted for any help. Local veterans or retired veterans should be able to help in some way. They could have a small little building where they keep supplies and all. Maybe that same building could have a few rooms where some of those homeless veterans can stay. It’s a possibility because many towns have empty spaces that they don’t use, so I think this would be a great idea. Many programs have been developed for veterans who have passed away. These programs give those veterans who have passed a proper burial. They’ll even include the military honors that they’ve received throughout their service. Programs like these have collaborated with local hospitals, the VA, regional offices, and local funeral service
