Although some may argue that the biggest challenge facing America is broad homelessness across the country, most of the homeless are a ripple effect from the debt the US has racked up. The US Bureau Of Labor Statistics states “On average the overall cost of consumer goods increases by 0.4% every season” (Indexes chart 1). As the national debt grows, so does the price of things like food, clothes, housing, and taxes. Over time the prices become too high and citizens cannot afford to live in their apartment and begin to rack up debt of their own to pay for their needs until they are so far down the rabbit hole, they lose all their money and cannot afford a place to live or food, resulting in homelessness.
