The Hope Center
Service is huge part if our society. There are so many wonderful organizations that help people get and maintain a healthy life. The Hope Center provides the youth in our society with education, employment, with a greater sense of faith all while being part of a community that loves and prepares kids for the future.
The Hope Center opened in October of 1998 by Pastor Ty Schenzel and his wife. He wanted to help the youth and children between the ages of 5 – 19 in the Omaha area reach their full potential and to see past what’s holding them back. Kids of any age come to the center after school and they can get a hot meal, help with their homework, and help finding a job and getting employed. Most of the kids that come here come from low income families that can’t provide them with the help they need and can’t provide a hot meal for them.
Education is a huge part of their mission. Kids are getting the help they need that their parents or other siblings can’t give them. The volunteers tutor them and give them the basic skills that they will need throughout school. Through the Learning Academy kids also have the opportunity to join a variety of activities that can spark new talents and strengths. They also have a chance to play sports and develop leadership skills through competition and team work. Administrators help high school teenagers get into college by taking them on college visit, and helping them complete community service

Ty Schenzel said, “Well, I love this place...and I should. Me, my wife and a bunch of crazy, faith-filled people started the Hope Center for Kids in October of 1998. These comments prove that The Hope Center is an amazing facility and the kids there are worth spending time with and helping. In grade school for one of my community outreach days my class and I actually went to The Hope Center. While we were there, we helped clean their kitchen because they had just redone it. We also made a bunch of banners for their volunteers to be put up on their volunteer appreciation day. We got a tour of The Hope Center and saw where the kids got help and studied. It was neat to see how many kids were there and how close everyone was. It showed me what an amazing organization this
