The middle age was such a period, when the fear was controlled people, and they were afraid to question the king’s or church’s authority. During that period, many scientists were judged for their ideas and they had to give them up in order to stay alive. The incident with Galileo is among the most famous.
To sum up, it is in human nature to constantly questioning the given facts. This curiosity has led to many astonishing improvements that we can detect through the pass of time. By not accepting passively the rules of authority, and trying to improve them from the general benefit, the societies has dramatically changed.
