Araminta Harriet Rose better known as Harriet Tubman once said, “I grew up like a neglected weed - ignorant of liberty, having no experience of it”. Tubman was raised with her slave parents, Harriet Green and Ben Ross. An American bondwoman born March 22, 1802. This women of great honor did a lot for the Civil War. During the war, Harriet Tubman worked as a nurse, cook and spy.
Tubman was a women with great heart and courage. 1849 was the year she escaped slavery. It wasn’t just an escape to freedom for her only. When Harriet left she returned many times to help free family members and non-relatives from the plantation system. She led hundreds to freedom in the North as most famous “conductor” of the Underground Railroad.
