Quebec City- Quebec City was founded by Samuel de Champlain. As he sailed through the Saint Lawrence River, he found a “trading post for future settlement”. Quebec City is the oldest French settlement located in North America. Instead of much agriculture, Quebec was famous for the fur.

Huguenots- The Huguenots referred to the French Protestants. The Edict of Nantes granted them some freedom, however they had to discrete about their religion, since France was predominately Catholic. When the Edict of Nantes was revoked towards the end of the 18th century, they left France and settled in North America.

Acadians- The Acadians were French, and they lived in Nova Scotia. They didn’t promise their loyalty to the British. So, in 1755, the British

Albany Congress- The Albany Congress took place in 1754. Out of the 13 colonies, only 7 representatives attended the meeting. The purpose was to unite America. The plan was sent to all colonies and the King back in Europe. The King wasn’t in favor of it because he thought it gave too much freedom. The colonies thought there wasn’t enough freedom promised in the plan.

Iroquois- The Iroquois were a sizable Native American tribe. They opposed the Huron Indians. Essentially, if the French could convince the Iroquois to side with them, England would lose the war. So, Benjamin Franklin gave them many gifts as a way of coaxing them to side with the British. However, the Iroquois remained neutral.

New France- Also known as Canada, New France was founded in 1608 and fell in 1763. New France was autocratic, meaning it was controlled by the French crown. Because of the autocratic government, there was no trial by jury nor elected representative assemblies. There was a slow population growth due to the cold climate.

Proclamation of 1763- The Proclamation of 1763 was a law implemented by the British after the Seven Years War. The Proclamation of 1763 prohibited colonists from living west of the Appalachian Mountains. As a result, many colonists rebelled and settled there
