The Revolutionary War took a huge toll on the economy of the colonies. After the war between the colonies and Britain, many countries cut America from their trade. Many ideas were offered up during the drafting of the constitution of America, but none were as important as the checks and balances. This idea introduced two parties: the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists. The Federalists were mainly wealthy people who believed in a large country wide government. Anti-Federalists were the opposite. They were mainly common people who wanted state wide governments and representation. They feared of becoming too much like the British government and took precautions to make sure they didn’t. These Federalist and Anti- Federalist ideas are still fought over today in current governments.
