The Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a model that puts the basic needs of life before the higher needs. The textbook Psychology and Your Life by R. S. Feldman (2010) mentions that there is “A pyramid can represent the model, with more basic needs at the bottom and the higher-level needs at the top” (Feldman, 2010, p. 249). With the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, basic needs such as shelter and food are at the bottom with higher needs at the top, which include self-actualization (Feldman, 2010, p. 249).
The hierarchy does make sense to me because, the order of the needs are physiological needs, safety needs, love and belongingness, esteem, and self-actualization. I feel that with the psychological need that is the first and should always be first. If you do not have those needs met, how else will you survive?
There are two needs, which I find most challenging, which include, esteem, and self-actualization. I do not feel that I have met them myself, and then they are hard to do. I find that esteem is one of the most challenging for me because I go through depression and that make it hard for me to have self-esteem at times. The textbook Psychology and Your Life by R. S.
