The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms states that every citizen is entitled to an interpreter if need be which is unarguably the most humane and correct way of proceeding when dealing with the justice system. However, what that fails to consider is the fact that those services add up and for taxpayers that equates to over $2.4 billion on bilingual services alone (Government of Canada). That does not even take into account the hefty price of interpreting and translating the hundreds of languages that are present in the country today. Besides, the reality of being able to properly translate each and every sign, document and so forth is highly unattainable in the first place. If there is a proceeding with implementing this issue in a cost effective manner, muse the notion that Canadians would be more amiable towards the new arrivers. It would help bust the stigma that immigrants drain our national economy; there would be fewer transition services needed as these people would better accustom to their new life in a shorter span of time. With that in mind, Canadians will feel more inclined to be more positive and sympathetic.
