By having men and women serve in the army together, that creates bonds, that reach past gender and offers more men the ability to see women as their equal, bonds that go past their service in the army. Due to the start that men and women have when starting their service in the military, both are respected within their societies, often times being able to quickly find jobs when they depart the service, although men typically are thought to be more respected in the sense that since their service time is longer, they see, to have been able to gain more knowledge or expertise. This “expertise” that is gained through longer service is seen to be act as an advantage to the men who are obligated to serve 12 months longer then women, and because a longer time spent in the military means more respect, this gender difference becomes heightened due to the military.
