The flu is a respiratory infection that recurs regularly every winter season. Many suffer as some years lead to high absenteeism and mortality among the elderly. Influenza viruses have the ability to change and can therefore cause major epidemics in some years.

Aerosols are left in the air for a short time and infectivity decreases rapidly with distance.
