Washington did not have very good health so he wanted to choose a different location to live in to see if his condition of health would change any (Liukkonen Web). He mentored many people such as Edgar Allen Poe, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in their writings. In the 1840’s, Washington was the United States Ambassador to Spain. He died on November 28, 1859 (“Washington” New Web). After Washington died, researchers found a locket of Marry Matilda’s hair and a sketch of her in his possessions. Washington wrote most of his stories during the 1810’s. During the 1810’s America was apart of the British empire before the Revolution. By America being controlled by Britain, they were able to ship goods easily to all around the world. The American Revolution caused a depression in the United States because they were unable to get as many goods. Before the Revolution they shipped 75 percent of their good and during the Revolution they shipped only 10 percent. America created the constitution after the Revolution and now have the same government as American has today (Allison 78). When America declared independence from Britain, it really hurt them economically. The merchants in the United States had to work together and not be as greedy to help support America. President Hamilton wanted to keep improving manufacturing (Allison 79). Hamilton created Revolutionary War certificates, this was great for the economy. Agriculture was very important at this time for the nation, it created buying land more essential (Allison 80). The United States created a trade embargo from Britain during the War of 1812 (Allison 81). After the War of 1812, Thomas Jefferson signed a bill to outlaw the trade embargo (Allison 82).
