First of all “a pair of star cross’d lovers take their life” what does it even mean, this means that Shakespeare is indicating a warning that sooner or later their tragic destiny will happen. Although Shakespeare created the phrase, "star-cross'd," meaning disastrous, for this play, it would have been understood at the time as a hint to astrology which means prophesy of the future by examination of stars and planets, or to the calculation of fate in the stars.
