“A hero, a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities or one who shows courage.” I quote Ms. Merriam Webster, but in my mind a hero is someone we look up to or should look up to. Ponyboy, Johnny and Dally all have hero qualities because they are not afraid to step up and help people
Johnny is a hero in his own way because he shows courage. After the movies he and Ponyboy got into a fight with Socs, he came to Ponyboy’s rescue when Bob tried to drown him. Also, he and Ponyboy went into the burning church followed by Dally, it wasn’t Johnny’s fault that the church was on fire. He also let Ponyboy leave the burning church first, which cost him his life. Johnny Cade died a hero.
Ponyboy was a hero in his own way because he showed pride.
