Or a even better question to start off with is what exactly is defined as a serial killer. According to the Vancouver Sun in a article dated quite back but isn’t relevant to Jack The Ripper himself but in it they did a very good job of explaining what a serial killer actually is. The Vancouver Sun came up with the following statement describing what a serial killer really is. “A serial killer is defined as someone who commits more than three murders over a period that spans more than one month. For the most part, serial killers commit murder for some sort of psychological benefit.” (Katherine Ransland, 2013). This statement/definition describes our guy Jack The Ripper pretty accurately. According to Katherine a serial killer commits more then three murders over a period that lasts over a month and that’s exactly what Jack The Ripper did. He committed about 5 gruesome murders and they lasted for about 12 weeks (3 months) which fits in perfectly with the definition where it says that there has to be more then 3 murders and for the date wise the definition says the killings have to commit these murders in a period span of just a month and Jack The Ripper exceeds these expectations. As for the psychological benefit part that will be part of the next paragraph discussing the General Aggression Theory and how it links with Jack The Ripper and his killings.
