My obstacles may seem small to outsiders but giant in my squinty, brown eyes. Growing up, and still, I have been the alien that sticks out as the elephant in the room. Wherever I go, whatever I do, in the low diversified city of Richmond, I am usually the only Chinese person. The only time I see others like myself, I have to go out of the city or go to the local college, and even then I feel isolated. As a six year-old looking out into the baseball field of the local recreation center, I noticed that the tee-ball team was filled with little, black boys. I didn’t let that phase me.
