Body 1 Jackie Robinson was born in 1919 in Cairo Georgia. He grew up with a great love of baseball. However, he only played with people of his color. Robinson is an inspirational player. At the start of the 1947 baseball season, Robinson was called up to join the Brooklyn Dodgers.
He was the first Negro first baseman, shortstop and best of all second baseman. He was amazing at all three positions, but excelled more on second. During his 10 years years of playing with the dodgers jackie robinson played in six play-off games and won one of them. His batting average was .311. Not only could this boy run, he stole bases like nobody else. He led the National League with 29 stolen bases. Robinson won the inaugural MLB Rookie of the Year Award in 1947.
3.Jackie Robinson defied the odds of everybody who doubted him. He had to listen to everyone who hated him while he was playing. Jackie tried to shut them out if tried to bring him down. Everytime he went up to bat or to field, he had to listen to everybody call him names and hate on him. They would call him a dirty nigger. Many would say to get out of the professional league of baseball because it is a white man's sport and there should be no niggers even in baseball. Not only did people watching the games hate him, but the coaches hated him too. They would tell their players to intentionally hurt Jackie. Even though he was an amazing player people would just hate him because his color. Even though people would say he sucked, he would do his best to prove them wrong by coming out on top.
