“Ask not what your country can do for you- but what you can do for your country.” A quote by John F. Kennedy. In the Leaving a Legacy unit, lots of people or movements have been researched for their legacies. John F. Kennedy may not still be around, but he will always be remembered for his legacy.
Born May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts the Kennedy had their second kid out of nine, John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr. After high school John went to Harvard University which he graduated from in 1940. After he graduated, John went into the navy, but when his PT boat was rammed into and destroyed in 1943 John did not go back out (“John F. Kennedy Background”). When John got back from the navy he got married to twenty four year old Jacqueline Bouvier. John and Jacqueline later had two children, Caroline and John Jr. (Frank Freidel).

In 1953, John joined the senate. Three years later he was almost nominated for vice-president, so when the next election happened in 1960 John was chosen as the Democratic candidate. Going up against Richard M. Nixon, John won. Inaugurated on January 20th, 1961, John became America’s 35th president and the first Roman Catholic president. Some of his best things he did in office was the cuban missile crisis, the first man was sent into space, and he started the peace corps. On November 22, 1963, Lee Oswald assassinated John in Dallas, Texas where he was working on winning Texas in the next year’s
