Over the holidays I played lots of games on the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4, and a variety of games like FIFA 14, Call of Duty 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, Five nights at Freddy’s, and Gunpoint. The game I’m going to write about today is Age of Empires 2 on the PC, Age of Empires 2 is a real time strategy game that was released in 1999 by Microsoft, however it was developed in by Ensemble studios and Hidden Path Entertainment. Age of Empires 2 is the sequel to Age of Empires, which was released in 1997, even though Age of Empires 1 received very high critic ratings, Age of Empires 2 improved on every aspect of the game, including Graphics, Gameplay mechanics, choice of nations and overall quality, although an upgrade was expected, the overall upgrade was better than people thought it would be and it received very, very high ratings. In the game you pick a nation and use this nation to battle against either the AI or against real opponents online, there are also Campaigns available. Age of Empires 2 is the second game, although the series is a trilogy, Age of Empires 3 is the newest game in the series (ignoring expansion packs and the mobile version) and although it got very high ratings, it was not very highly rated by those who loved the gameplay of Age of Empires and Age of Empires 2. Age of Empires 3 was released in 2005, which was a massive gap compared with the time difference between Age of Empires 1 and Age of Empires 2, which had just a difference of two years in between.
