INTRODUCTION
A family is a set of human beings related to each other in a non professional manner, where love, care and affection are the most prominent human values which are responsible for maintaining these bonds of relationships within a family. ➢ Family Strength: The joint family system is mostly common in Pakistan. There are advantages, such as family strength, pooling family resources, maintenance of social interaction among family members creating a sense of likeness. The customs of co-operation in different economic and social activities are admirable. Caring and sharing problems give rise to healthy social life, but it is also a stumbling block in the personal development of individuals. In Islam, the family is the cornerstone of the society. Therefore, Islam gives special attention to its solidarity and strength in seek of establishing a well-prepared society that can face all challenges of life.
➢ Extended Family System: One might find a number of negative results of the joint family system common in Pakistan, but one positive result of this system is that it provides an extended family system to people in distress. This is particularly true in the case of the youth in Pakistan. It is observed that in the event of death, or absence of parents, the negative fallout on the children in joint families is not as severe as in the case of nuclear families. ➢ Useful to Patients: The possible reason for this could be that perhaps our sample size was too small to represent the whole population.
