Heracles went insane causing him to kill his wife and children. Being that Heracles had to make up for his sins the king gave him 12 labors to compete in order to become immortal. Heracles is heroic because he did what was asked of him, he accomplished all 12 labors, and at the end of his 12 labors he was rewarded with immortality. First, Heracles did everything that was asked of him after killing his wife and children. He never once explained to Apollo that he couldn’t complete the tasks. He went on to complete the tasks that king Eurystheus assigned to him. He had to skin a lion, burn the heads off a nine-headed serpent, and had to lean the stables where thousands of animals lived in a single day. The King tried to humiliate
