Beowulf an excellent warrior

Beowulf is an excellent warrior out of all the characters from the myth because he symbolises his youth by his feat of courage and strength. He is loyal to his people. Whenever a problem arises, he doesn’t just leave his people alone to deal with it by themselves. He knows that he is responsible for whatever circumstances that will happen after his act/decision. He knows that if his decision went wrong then he is the only one to blame. Therefore, he makes sure to analyze the situation and then acts on his wise decisions. He is courageous and has fascinating warrior skills to protect his populace. Because he has these fabulous traits, he is an amazing king with being a fantastic hero and an excellent warrior.

It was told by Hrothgar that he had heard Beowulf’s brave/dangerous adventurous tales: “‘I have heard from sea-faring folk that Beowulf has the strength of thirty men in his mighty battle-grip!’ said Hrothgar to the herald.”(pg. 390). Hrothgar was aware about Beowulf’s powers because the time he spent in his youth with Breca: “From the days of my youth, I have won honor and glory by doing deeds of daring and danger. I have slain savage sea-monsters upon surging sea-swells in the dark of night. And now, I will wage war with Grendel, that joyless giant, frightful fiend though he is.”(pg. 390).Based on his experience of fight with sea-monsters during his youth age, Beowulf believed that he would beat Grendel. “‘I could easily slay him with my blood-thirsting battle-blade, for the monstrous man-eater is not skilled in the use of war-weapons. But since Grendel fights without battle-sword and shield, so will I.’ Beowulf declared.”(pg. 393). Because Grendel didn’t possess a skill of using war-weapons, Beowulf decided to fight fairly by refrain from using the weapons against him.
