If there is a test, the student will have less time to work on the test. Later start time positively affects students who have a hard time getting ready in the morning. When schools start later, the roads are safer. According to SleepFoundation.org “there has been a decrease in motor vehicle crashes.” If there are fewer crashes, the roads will be safer. When new drivers drive to school early, they are less alert compared to when the start times are later. When there are later start times, students are less likely to develop depressive symptoms. That means that the student won't be feeling depressed and can't focus on other things like school and their family. Later school start times also benefit students by letting them have time to wake up and be more alert when the start times are too early. Another reason is that if school starts early, there is less time for the town to clear out sidewalks, clean ice off the streets and plow the parking lots. This will also allow students to be there the whole day because if all of the streets and parking lots are clean, there wouldn't be the need for delays.
